****Important Information****
Over the past few days, our district has been preparing for snow. Since AMI days no longer exist, we want to notify you of what our plan is during snow.
The school will be open as a warming station. It will be open until 6:00 p.m. tonight. If no one is using it, we will close for the evening and reopen at 7:00 each morning UNLESS SCHOOL IS IN SESSION.
School cancellations will be announced through text/phone call, email, social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), our school webpage (markedtreeschools.com), our app (on Apple and Google devices), and KAIT. Please make sure you install our app and turn on notifications.
When the threat of severe weather arrives, we start checking the roads at 4:00 a.m. We drive each route, all the way to Trumann (many travel from Jonesboro), and talk to county and local police. Once complete, we will make a decision. Knowing that many travel for work, we will try to have a decision between 5:30-6:00 a.m. If school is cancelled, we will continue to check roads in the morning, at noon, and later in the afternoon for improvement. A decision could be made at any point during the day concerning the following day, but we will try to notify you between 3:00 and 6:00 p.m. and will try not to notify you after 8:00 p.m. However, circumstances might not always allow this.
If we are in school and need to send students home, we will try to give at least one hour notice.
This year, our school will be implementing snow routes. This is needed to help bus transportation and safety for all students. In some of our rural routes, buses can’t turnaround due to snow or ice. These snow routes are below.
Hwy. 149 (Ms. Booth) will be picked up at old Johnny Rye store at 7:10, at the Jehovah Witnesses church/South Side Subdivision at 7:15, and 10th-12th Street students at 7:20.
Hwy. 75 (Sgt. Perry) will be picked up 7:00 at Nicewonder Church. All of Sgt. Perry’s route would be picked up at this location.
Payneway (Nurse Charlene) will be picked up at the lot beside the old gas station at 7:10. All of Payneway would report to this location.
